#1. MESSINA'S
When your mom takes you out to brunch, you know it’s going to be good! Brunch was absolutely delicious, and these pictures surely don’t lie. For all my New Orleans people, if you remember that old Bally’s casino by the lake, then you know exactly where this place is. The food was magnificent, the service was great, and its one of my favorites.
Now let’s get down to the good stuff. First things first…mimosas. And they were BOTTOMLESS! How could a girl be mad at that! They brought over a carafe mimosa and literally did not stop refilling it. That is how you do bottomless. Now for the eats, for the appetizer we got fried green tomatoes with shrimp. BRUH! too good. When your apps are bussin’ that’s how you know you’re in for a treat. Next, was the shrimp and grits. But these were not the struggle shrimp and grit grits with two shrimps and a scoop of grits. No, this was a hearty ass bowl on shrimp and grits. So much food and the big buttered biscuit on the side gave me everything I needed and more. Finally, the real star of the show… The Mardi Gras bread pudding (which was actually very cute because I was visiting home for Mardi Gras). Y’all, this was literally so BOMB!
#2. BEARCAT
Are you a good cat or a bad cat? How about Bearcat! It’s story time. The night before I went here I got pretty turnt and had a horrible hangover the next morning. I couldn’t believe that I still made it to brunch. I met up with a fellow foodie and we indulged in an amazing brunch. I can’t lie, it was exactly what I needed after a night of drinking. Definitely a favorite spot.
#3. Gris - Gris
It tastes so good they named it twice. My sister told me about Gris Gris and I’ve been raving about it ever since. But don’t get it twisted. This spot is good for more than just brunch. Their lunch and dinner is pretty tasty too. I can never deny a good chicken biscuit and then just smother that thing with some gravy and you’ve got a winner. Brunching at Gris Gris is brunching like no other. A gem I tell yah, a gem!
#4. WILLA JEAN
Oh sweet Willa Jean! I have to give a shoutout to Paisley for inviting me to a girls brunch here. I heard a lot about this place on Instagram, but I had never been for myself. When I tell you, this place had all the vibes. I mean all the vibes (foodie vibes that is). Just look at this shrimp toast! All the beautiful colors and fresh ingredients - it’s a foodie paradise. I can’t deny, I got some pretty awesome shots at WJ. Check out my Willa Jean blog post for more dope shots. Oh yeah, and the food was out of this world too, so that was an absolute plus!! DUH.
#5. Trenasse
Did someone say French toast, bottomless mimosas, and Saints Sunday? Oh yeah, Trenasse said Dat! For all my Who Dat fans looking for a brunch spot near the Superdome, this is the spot for you. Saints Sunday literally cannot get any better!
